Operational Updates

Please find below the latest key updates from our Global Operations Team. Note that the situation is changing rapidly so please contact your local Biocair office for a specific update on a particular region.


Wednesday 1 July

US

  • Please note that Friday 3 July is a national holiday in celebration of Independence Day (4 July). As a result all of Biocair's US offices will be closed on 3 July, as well as all US Government Agencies (including Customs, USDA and FDA).


Monday 29 June

Germany

  • Biocair is selected to transport COVID-19 antibody tests for the Deutscher Fußball-Bund, the German Football Association. Read more here.


Tuesday 9 June

Global

  • During COVID-19 we have been using the hashtag #BiocairResponds across our social media accounts. Share your experience of using Biocair and our services with the hashtag #BiocairResponds on Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook and be in with the chance of winning a prize! Prizes include online gift vouchers, smart speakers and more!
  • We will be randomly selecting the lucky winner on 30 June. If you have any questions, or would like more information, please contact marketing@biocair.com.
  • Competition is only open to customers of Biocair.

  • The Government of India has further extended lockdown until 31 May. It is still possible to arrange local collections/deliveries and customs clearance. Please contact your local Biocair office for the most up-to-date information.


Tuesday 5 May

India

  • The Government of India has extended lockdown for another 14 days. Please note it is still possible to arrange shipments in/out of India, despite the challenging situation, and you should contact your local Biocair office for the most up-to-date information.


Friday 1 May

  • Biocair is still able to continue operating and our drivers are continuing to collect/deliver shipments wherever possible.
  • We have introduced contact free procedures for deliveries and collections. We kindly ask you to please work with our drivers to preserve your safety and their safety by remembering the social distancing rules when they are on site.

  • For any upcoming shipments to/from China please take into account that the Chinese Labour Day holiday will be celebrated between 1 - 5 May. During this time many companies, Government departments, agencies and public bodies will be closed so there may be longer transit times than normal. Please contact our offices in China for the latest information.

  • Biocair is still able to continue operating across its global network of offices and our drivers are continuing to collect/deliver shipments wherever possible.   • Delays are expected in customs clearance and cargo loading/unloading due to new measures implemented by authorities.

South Africa

  • Biocair's services have now been registered as 'essential' and so is allowed to continue with the import/export of shipments during the lockdown in South Africa.


Monday 30 March

UK

  • Some airlines have opened up their passenger flights for use as cargo only.
  • There are options to charter flights, an option for either bulk or highly valuable materials. Contact your local Biocair office for more information.


Friday 27 March

Global

  • For those countries implementing lockdown procedures, Biocair is arranging the appropriate paperwork and permits to ensure its staff are classified as key workers. As a result, Biocair will still be able to continue operating and its transport workers will continue to collect/deliver shipments wherever possible.
  • Biocair's drivers are continuing with collections and deliveries, please work with them to preserve your safety and their safety by remembering the social distancing rules when they are on site. We are truly proud of our drivers as they continue to provide such high levels of service.

China

  • The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) will introduce new measures on 29 March aimed at decreasing the number of international passenger flights to help minimise the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Biocair's Operations team in China is working closely with key airlines in order to secure the safe transport for upcoming shipments.


Wednesday 25 March

UK

  • Some routes to Canada are being cancelled. However Biocair is constantly liaising with airlines and is arranging alternative routes.
  • All international flights to/from Moscow are now suspended. Biocair is implementing alternative options.


Tuesday 24 March

Global

  • Biocair continues liaising with various major airlines in an effort to open-up ground passenger flights to carry cargo at least 2-3 times a week.

US

  • Many shipments are being consolidated due to cancellation of flights from some airports. However, it is still possible to arrange shipments in/out of the US, despite the current situation
  • Options available to fly into Asia with several airlines.

UK

  • Following the latest guidelines from the UK Government regarding COVID-19, Biocair's staff are classified as key workers as they provide an essential service within the healthcare supply chain
  • Several airlines are still flying into key regions, including Asia and the US.
  • Biocair is looking into charter options in order to secure shipments to key destinations.

South Africa

  • Although several airlines have cancelled flights, Biocair's Operations team in South Africa is still managing to book shipments from JNB.

Germany

  • Lufthansa is running reduced schedules so freighter routes are being optimised.
  • Road freight options remain available despite significant delays at all border points.

Belgium

  • Lufthansa freighter flights to key US destinations still operating.
  • KLM flights out of AMS still operating.
  • All road options still available but expect delays.


Monday 23 March

Global

  • Emirates announces closing of global network (all routes) as of 25 March.
  • Etihad announces the suspension of all passenger flights as of 25 March.

APAC

  • There are no major issues regarding the daily operations of Biocair offices.
  • Vast majority of Singapore and China employees are working in the offices.

Germany

  • Lufthansa is running reduced schedules - this is changing regularly.
  • Road freight options remain available but there have been significant delays at the Polish border - up to 60km tailbacks.

Belgium

  • KLM flights out of AMS still operating.
  • All road options still available but expect delays.

UK

  • Several options remain available to secure shipments to the US.

South Africa

  • South Africa is on lockdown from midnight Thursday 26 March until 16 April following the President's speech held on the evening of 23 March.
