Biocair is actively monitoring and implementing the requirements of the European Union Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) relating to packaging sustainability, recyclability, labelling, information provision and supply chain documentation.
Biocair recognises that many life science and healthcare shipments require specialised temperature-controlled packaging to protect product quality, patient safety and regulatory compliance. As PPWR requirements are implemented, we will continue to evaluate sustainable packaging solutions while ensuring that the performance and integrity of critical shipments are not compromised.
We are working closely with our packaging suppliers and industry partners to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable PPWR requirements and to minimise any operational impact on customer shipments.
How Biocair is Addressing PPWR Requirements
Biocair has established a programme to assess and manage PPWR requirements across our logistics and packaging operations.
In implementing PPWR requirements, Biocair will balance regulatory and sustainability objectives with the specific product-protection needs of temperature-controlled shipments. Product safety, quality and the integrity of customer shipments will remain our priority when assessing any packaging changes. This programme includes:

Packaging Compliance
Biocair is implementing controls to ensure that packaging placed on the EU market complies with applicable PPWR requirements as they become effective.
We maintain documentation from packaging suppliers demonstrating conformity with relevant regulatory requirements and can provide supporting evidence to customers upon reasonable request.
Packaging Materials and Operational Changes
At present, we do not anticipate any disruption to customer shipments as a result of PPWR implementation.
Where required by future regulatory obligations, Biocair may make updates to:
- Packaging specifications and materials.
- Recycling and sustainability information.
- Packaging identification and labelling.
- Internal documentation and reporting processes.
Any material changes affecting customer shipments will be communicated in advance where appropriate.
Customer Responsibilities
Based on our current assessment, no specific actions are required from customers in relation to packaging supplied and managed by Biocair.
If customers have their own PPWR compliance programmes, sustainability reporting requirements, or audit obligations, Biocair can provide supporting documentation relating to packaging used in the services we provide.
Documentation and Evidence
Upon request, Biocair can provide relevant documentation relating to packaging compliance, including applicable supplier declarations and supporting records maintained as part of our compliance programme.
Regulatory Monitoring
PPWR requirements are being implemented in phases over several years. Biocair continues to monitor regulatory developments and will update our processes, packaging specifications and customer communications as additional requirements become applicable.
